Acorn is the first-ever cryptocurrency mining accelerator card. By using best-in-class FPGA chips in an M.2 slot, the Acorn CLE-101 offloads and performs the least GPU friendly parts of memory-intensive cryptocurrency mining. Acorn CLE-101 makes mining algorithms like Ethash and CryptoNight V1 on GPUs more efficient.
Graphics cards are great for mining Ethash and CryptoNight V1 algorithms, but they’re not optimized for certain tasks in the algorithm chain. They create bottlenecks in the hashing pipeline, and that means they mine at a much lower effective hash rate and higher power usage.
Acorn offloads and performs the tasks where GPUs fall behind – and performs those tasks much faster than a GPU.
Acorn and GPUs work in a highly-optimized choreography and ensure no piece of the hashing algorithm is waiting.
Your GPU rigs can mine Ethash and CryptoNight V1 coins like Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Monero or Electroneum better simply by adding Acorn CLE-101 to the mix.
Acorn extends the life of existing graphics cards and keeps them relevant and useful for mining
Algorithms change frequently. Many coins and algorithms are preventing the use of specialized ASIC technology while mining. Those ASIC chips are hardwired for a single purpose, and as soon as algorithms change, they’re rendered obsolete.
As the new coins become popular, Acorn will adapt and assist mining them. The open community around Acorn and other SQRL products means developers can create their own bitstreams to use with Acorn and share with others.
Acorns will work even better over time. Today Acorns are brand new and the SQRL team of expert developers are committed to making performance optimizations every day.
SQRL offers a 90-day warranty against defects.
An M.2 2280 M-Key (PCIe) slot is required to use Acorn. Acorn should fit comfortably in most M.2 slots, but it is one millimeter wider than the official specifications. Ensure you have clearance.
Compatible mining software is required
